The Finished Cake

After the ceremony, Kathy and I and our kids hurried across the valley to retrieve the cake. We were able to get into the reception location 2 hours early. Since we've never done a cake before we had no idea we would need almost that entire time.

After we got the cake assembled, we then put ribbon around the bases of the top and bottom layers. Then, Kathy began the task of the scrollwork.

I think it took almost an hour to do all that scroll work. There were a couple of incidents where the black dripped or landed where it shouldn't have. So, the "accidents" were worked into the design. Hence the scrollwork coming down onto the base layer.

Kathy is quite talented with flowers, so she also made little "boutonniers" to go on the cake.

True confession. A panel in the back of my car actually fell on the cake as we were driving to the reception location. One corner of the bottom layer got scrunched. Hence the roses on two corners of the bottom of the cake. Thankfully it ended up looking nice.

This is Nicole's favorite photo of Pedro.

Ok, so the cake looks great.

Um, Michelle's niece Ashley is friends with Pedro. She was telling me all about this wedding reception she went to where her friend Pedro was dressed in drag. I just busted up because I knew you had been to the exact same wedding. Hilarious!
